Old dogs and new tricks

This ride has been incredible.

I've learned a lot about old houses, old habits and old dogs.

Old houses are built to last. Old habits die hard and old dogs shouldn't be digging 300' ditches without stretching their backs and taking frequent breaks.

Now that the Thermo-Pex is in the ground we turn our attention to the Pole Barn. We have heating tubes (more pex!) run under the concrete and we have some wall segments up. Today will be all about getting the structure weatherproof.

Ken cut a hole in the roof (for the wood furnace we removed) and now I need to be able to cover that up – fortunately I have a 20' ladder (something that every man should own at least once in his life!) to help me get a patch up there.

There's a company in town that sells the steel sheets that these Pole Barns are made from – hopefully we'll be able to get some pieces from them to fix the holes that Ken and I made.

I'll let you know how it goes and you can be sure that this old dog is planning to stretch everything before he climbs 20' straight up!
