Tonight is the calm before the storm.
Tomorrow we get the Pex Gun to attach the in floor heating pipes (Red Pex Pipes) to the insulation.
When we talked about having a space for our guests to be able to meet and have a family gathering Sherry and I agreed that we wouldn't do it if it wasn't excellent.
That lead to a whole bunch of decisions that would ensure our Pole Barn wouldn't feel like a Pole Barn (it would still be a Pole Barn, but just not feel like one). We decided to put in floor heat in the meeting space for the Cool Winter months (it never really gets Cold in Wheatley). And to go with a ductless air conditioner for the Steamy Summer nights.
Well. That set off a slew of decisions that we needed to address. We decided to go with a Central Boiler outdoor corn furnace (there's a Ton of Corn in Wheatley!) to generate heat for the main house, the hot tub (eventually) and the in floor heat for the meeting area.
We also decided to put a bathroom into the Pole Barn for your comfort – if you have a bunch of kids running around our Vineyard (eventually) then you won't want them running up to your bedroom to use your ensuite all the time.
It turns out that bathrooms need running water – so we built a Moat
! (which I've had to fill in – at least that
chore is pretty much done now).
As I said earlier – tonight is the calm before the storm (not the storm in the picture – that one was a couple of months ago!). Once we get the Pex Gun we can lay out the in floor pipes, which lets us put down the wire mesh, which lets us get the concrete poured (by a guy named Gerhard who has a beard that ZZTop would be jealous of!), which lets us insulate (with R28 for your comfort!).
And all of that lets us put up walls, which lets us get the electrical and plumbing done and then the walls and the drywall (Sherry is a WHIZ at taping and mudding!) and the paint.
Whew.
It's a good thing I've got tonight to get rested – once I get started on this I won't stop until I have a place that is Bound to Please!
